Neo-Plasco:
Typology: Commercial Building
Typology: High-rise
Location: Tehran, Iran
Project Type: Competition
This project is a tribute to the burnt and completely destroyed Plasco building;
defined, is a project as a memorial building for the unfortunate incident that led to
the destruction of the building itself and the death of many civilians and firemen. The project tries to capture the magnitude and impact of what happened, which was far more outreaching than its immediate site.

Neo-Plasco is the same size and scale as Plasco (the original building). The proposed alternative will contain the same number of storys but will differ in typology. Neo-Plasco is now determined to be a public museum wherein the building itself is the exhibited work. The outrageously expressed tectonics symbolizes the fire that burned the original building - frozen in time - casting the incident in space saving the harsh memory as a tough lesson.
The relationship of the subject and the object is comparable to the relationship of a human and a beloved person who is laid to rest. In each floor, tectonics take a different form and signify the tomb stone of those who died there. The short and long steps of the staircase resemble the elongated and infuriating path that people were taking down to save themselves while simultaneously the firemen were taking up to ultimately perish.
Plasco building was considered the first modern high-rise of Iran. It was an uncut box which had two vertical shafts and a big central void; making it a one of a kind building in its time.
Neo-Plasco projects the same qualities by introducing a new architectural typology. The two buildings will have an inescapable metaphysical relationship in being first of their generations.
